The Foundation Juan Negrín is a private, non-profit, cultural open space, declared of public and social interest. It’s objective is to make known the historical figure of Juan Negrín López, a universal Canarian, born in Las Palmas of Gran Canaria who deceased in Paris in 1956. A well-known scientist, specialized in Physiology, he trained a Nobel Prize and several famous nutritionists and cardiologists. As a politician, he became President of the Council of Ministers of the Government (Prime Minister) of the Second Republic of Spain, from 1937 to 1945, during the Spanish Civil War and, in exil, during the Second World War.
For this purpose, his voluminous and important archive has been recently deposited in the Foundation and we are making it available to researchers in the field of History. There is also a permanent exhibit opened to the public, showing the main events as lived by this personality, as well as this convulsive but fascinating period of the first half of the XXth century.
